Requirements Gathering & Needs Assessment

• Includes initial consultation and proposal generation.
• All information regarding application requirements is analyzed to ensure the problem is adequately defined.

Proposal Generation

• Based upon the information revealed during the needs assessment, a preliminary estimate and project outline is developed.
• Upon acceptance, the proposal is also used as an outline for developing the functional specifications document.

Functional Specifications Development

• All information revealed during proposal generation process is further analyzed and detailed.
• The functional specifications document becomes the application blueprint and defines the precise project scope for project development.
• The goal of the functional specifications document is to reduce the amount of scope variance by clearly identifying project requirements.

Database Design And Development

• Database schema is designed & constructed based on data requirements for the
  application.
• Queries or stored procedures are developed to encapsulate database operations.

User Interface Design

• Mockups of all user interface screens are created to illustrate general “look & feel” from the user’s perspective.
• Following initial review, subsequent changes are incorporated to visual aspects of the user interface.
• Upon approval of interface mockups, application logic is added to the user interface.

Application Logic

• As listed in the functional specifications document, the application logic that constitutes the application functionality is added to the user interface.
• Depending on the application architecture, custom COM/DCOM components are also created to encapsulate the business rules.

User Acceptance & Sign-Off

• Following adequate system testing the user is presented with the application for user acceptance.
