Since 1997, Mango Bay Internet has designed, created and maintained hundreds of e-commerce websites.  We believe that there must be a thought process behind every successful store.  Almost all products are not being sold on-line.  What will make your storefront different?   Let’s look at just a few ideas that we have on the subject of e-commerce.

Evaluation

Before undertaking any project, we will schedule an appointment with you in order to properly evaluate your needs.  As part of this process, we will define your goals and answer questions like:

  • Who is your target audience?
  • What products/services make or will make you most profitable?
  • Are you an on-line retailer or bricks and mortar shop as well?
  • What are your current sales?
  • How do you market or plan on marketing your business?
  • Budget

This is a tough question for some people. We will help you decide what you want versus what you need.  Then we will talk about what you can afford.  E-Commerce sites (and websites in general) are like houses.  We can build you everything from a toolshed to a mansion.  Costs are reflective of effort (time) and functionality.  If you want it done right, then the costs associated with that will be reflected on the quote we provide you.

Platform

Based on the evaluation and the budget, we will recommend an e-commerce platform as the foundation of your site.  There are many out there and they vary depending on cost and functionality (do you see a trend here?)  Some of the platforms use Windows and .Net while others use PHP.

Functionality

Are you selling 1 item or 1 million items?  Do you need to track inventory or are you satisfied with just completing a sale?  UPS tracking, 3rd party integration, etc.  These are all considerations that will be thought of when we define the scope of work for the project.

What is a scope of work and why is it important?

A scope of work is a detailed document that describes how your site will function, specifically.  It is important as we will use this document as a set of blueprints for design.  It is a lot easier to make changes in the planning stage rather than when you are about to go live.  Also, you shouldn’t have to “guess” at how your site will work.  You will know based on the scope of work that we create for you during the initial steps of our process.

Responsive Design

As of 2015, the focus has shifted from desktop to mobile.  It is imperative that you understand that most sites are designed with the mobile viewer and not the desktop visitor.  However, Mango Bay Internet uses a responsive design approach.  This means that you will have 1 site that is mobile-friendly and that site will look and function well on any device.  Mac or pc, IPhone or Droid, IE or Safari, they should all work well.

Selling the Products

So now you have a site that is up and running.  So what?  How do you get people to look at them?  First, you have to get them to your site.  Popular belief is that over 600 daily visitors are needed in order to sustain a successful on-line business.  Once they are there, engage them with item details such as the price, stock position, shipping costs and a high-quality image.  Be sure to give additional views, testimonials or reviews that are pertinent to the sale of that item.  All of these things are important and are a factor when Mango Bay Internet designs your e-commerce web site.

Converting into Sales

Converting a visitor who has viewed your products is done with an e-commerce site by Mango Bay Internet that is secure, easy to navigate and quickly allows them to order.  A one-page checkout is optimal for repeat business.

Customer Service and Proactive Marketing

Now that you have the order, it is time to confirm with them that they have placed their order properly.  While you’re at it, allow them access to order history, setup recurring orders and offer them discounts on future purchases.

Then the fun part for us begins!  We will focus on your social presence, social sharing and on-line marketing and re-marketing to be as visible as possible. Meet with us and get started today!
