Worst Blackout in History. Mango Bay Internet: Fast, Reliable and 0% Downtime! It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. On August 14, 2003, the Northeast was hit by a major power outage which is now referred to as the worst blackout in history. Based in Brooklyn Heights, Ohio which is a suburb of Cleveland, Mango Bay Internet was at the heart of it all. Researchers are still trying to determine whether a power line in nearby Walton Hills, Ohio started a series of events that caused the outage. As early as 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, lights flickered and uninterruptible power supplies (ups) bellowed from the Network Operations Center. The staff worked as a team and immediately took emergency actions preventing data loss and ensuring mission critical access was unaffected. Mango Bay Internet has customers all over the U.S. that were not affected and relied on us to keep things up and running. The pictures below were taken the night of the blackout. Emergency generators powered equipment, lights and even a television that kept workers informed.
Comments "Just a quick note of appreciation to all of you for putting in the extra effort to keep things running smoothly. The power did not go out here, but to have our Internet disabled would have been a huge inconvenience. Thanks again for keeping us connected." - Christopher Totten, M&M Manufacturing "Thank you for your continued excellent service." -Karen Nagy, Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis "Thanks for the good work."- Richard Swartz, Sign Concepts Inc.
"Just
wanted to thank you for having the back-up generators and
keeping our site live through the whole power out thing.
Many sites I have gone to are out - So thanks!!
-Sarah Botchick, Pioneer Wholesale Co.
"Please transfer our DSL service immediately. We have ***.net and they were down. We host our website with you and want to switch to a more reliable provider." Name withheld, current hosting and new dsl customer. "I am extremely proud of
all staff members who unselfishly put Mango Bay and our
customers before themselves. Thank You, I truly appreciate
all your help" - Alan P. Jacubenta, President of

On June 29, 2003, Alan Jacubenta a.k.a. "AJ", President of Mango Bay Internet caught a foul ball at Jacobs Field. While attending the Cleveland Indians vs. Cincinnati Reds baseball game, a foul ball off the bat of Milton Bradley somehow landed in AJ's glove.
